What is Claude?

Claude Chat vs. Cowork vs. Code
Claude Chat
The basic web interface. Good for ad-hoc questions and writing. Like having a smart assistant in a browser tab. Free to try, Pro plan for heavy use.
Claude Cowork (Team) — Start here
The business version. Connects to your company tools (HubSpot, Slack, Jira, Google Workspace). Multiple users with shared context. This is what most businesses should start with.
Claude Code (Developer CLI)
Terminal-based coding assistant. Writes, tests, and deploys code. For engineering teams only.
What should you deploy first?
Week 1: Start with Claude Cowork. Have 3-5 people try it for their existing work — email drafting, document review, data questions. No tools needed yet.
Week 2-3: Add connectors to tools your team already uses (Google Workspace, Notion, HubSpot, Slack). These are free and take 5-10 minutes to set up. No coding required.
Month 2: Based on what worked, add department-specific skills (marketing, sales, PM). See our Getting Started guide for specific recommendations by department.
What are the risks?
Data handling
When you use Claude, your prompts are sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Enterprise and Team plans include data processing agreements that exclude training on your inputs. If you handle sensitive data (healthcare, financial, legal), confirm your plan's data policies with Anthropic.
Accuracy
Claude can make mistakes. It should augment human judgment, not replace it. Always review AI-generated content before sending externally.
Vendor dependency
Claude tools are an ecosystem, not a single vendor. Most connectors are open source and the catalog includes 69 vendor-built tools from companies like Atlassian, Microsoft, Stripe, and Salesforce.

Time to complete recurring tasks
Measure how long common tasks take (email drafting, report writing, data analysis) before and after Claude. Early adopters typically report 30-60% time savings on structured, repeatable work.
Output volume
Count deliverables per person per week — proposals written, tickets triaged, reports generated. AI typically increases output 2-3x on text-heavy work.
Error rates
