Cowork Context File Architecture
Three-file system in a dedicated context/ folder: about-me.md (role, priorities, example work), brand-voice.md (tone, phrases, writing samples), working-preferences.md (how you want Claude to operate). Eliminates cold-start problem every session.
- Eliminate the cold-start problem at the beginning of every session
- Store your role, priorities, and writing style for automatic loading
- Separate personal context from project-specific working preferences
Without context files, every Cowork session starts from scratch producing generic output. With them, Claude knows your voice and standards before you type a word — compounding value across every session.
Anyone using Cowork regularly for client-facing or recurring business work. The single highest-leverage setup step.

How to Get It
In Claude Cowork: Open the Customize panel in the sidebar → Folder Instructions, and paste the instructions below. Claude will follow them automatically in that folder.
In Claude Code: Add these instructions to your project's CLAUDE.md file, or paste them into your conversation and ask Claude to save them.
## Context Files My project folder contains these context files — read them before starting any task: - about-me.md — my role, current priorities, and what success looks like - brand-voice.md — tone, style, vocabulary, and examples of good writing - working-preferences.md — how I like to collaborate with AI - project-brief.md — current project goals, constraints, and timeline Always check these files before starting work. If a file doesn't exist yet, ask me if I'd like to create it.
